Nevermind the Bollocks

A combination of Science and Art, named after the punk album by the Sex Pistols, Never-mind the Bollocks is a project in which Riesner seeks to further destabilise the establishment of the art world. Following on from Duchamp's Urinal (1917) she brings forward the question about what should and shouldn't be classed as Art in our contemporary culture through photographing a human testicle as seen through a Microscope.

"It is interesting to see the differing reactions of my audience, the work is viewed extremely differently once the subject matter is known, and so I try to let them see it first and then disclose what the images are of.

I've had many varying and interesting responses in which they compare the images to those of space, and for me it has started a very intriguing conversation about the micro and the macro and the similarities they share and I would love to continue this further in future projects."
